TekSynap Awarded a Potential $87M Defense Logistics Agency J6 Enterprise Service Delivery II Task Order

RESTON, Va., Aug. 9, 2022 – TekSynap has secured the award for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) J6 Enterprise Service Delivery (ESD) II task order. The contract, awarded under DLA J6 Enterprise Technology Services (JETS), has a base year worth $24.6 million; two one-year options, if all exercised, would bring the total value of this effort to a potential $87 million.

TekSynap’s customer-centric team will support DLA’s customers at 160 site locations around the world. The TekSynap ESD II team will provide IT services and solutions focused on enterprise desktop support for both Tier 2 and Tier 2.5, local network administration and management, database systems and cybersecurity engineering support, active directory support and application delivery functions.

DLA provides mission-critical, global supply chain support to the warfighter, federal agencies and its allied partners. TekSynap will support DLA’s mission by providing a full range of IT services, technical and management expertise that support applications, software, hardware, infrastructure and integrated desktop customer service solutions, across the DLA IT enterprise. The ESD II task order will also facilitate DLA’s audit readiness and audit sustainability lines-of-effort by providing end-to-end IT hardware and software asset infrastructure management and accountability. This award represents the 59th task order TekSynap has won under the DLA JETS program since its inception in 2017 and we currently support 22 active task order on JETS, ranging from enterprise IT support services to cloud services within DLA.

Marla Helveston takes a mission objective and achieves it through sound strategy development. She intuitively sees the big picture, brings the necessary pieces together into a coherent plan, helps others extend their thinking, and drives operational performance. Helveston, Senior Vice President of Operations, is responsible for managing business growth, formulating and executing growth strategies, and interacting with clients, employees, partners, and other stakeholders. She exemplifies TekSynap’s commitment to helping clients achieve high performance and operational success. Helveston has demonstrated performance in maximizing growth within established and new programs. She was directly responsible for leading capture efforts that resulted in a multi-year string of new opportunity wins, injecting new business into her organization. In her 30-year career in government contracting, Helveston has held a wide variety of leadership positions across key parts of the business. She was responsible for all P&L activities, business growth and development, client engagement and staff management and growth for the 275+ people in her organization. Helveston began her career working for the USAF at Keesler Air Force Base where she earned Master Instructor status, teaching classes in basic computer concepts, problem solving, logic design, and programming. Helveston is a certified PMP and graduated with a BS in engineering from Mississippi State University.

DoD Cloud Infrastructure as Code for AWS is now available

TekSynap, as the prime contractor supporting the Department of the Defense Environment, Safety and Occupational Health Network and Information Exchange (DENIX) program continues to raise the bar in providing leading capabilities. DENIX has achieved many first and outstanding accomplishments over its history. Most recently, during the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Washington DC Summit 2022, the DENIX program was highlighted for our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementation. Our partnership with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Hosting and Compute Center (HaCC) to implement IaC as a project accelerator enhances the program’s security posture and decreases operational costs.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is committed to supporting the mission of our Department of Defense (DoD) customers by providing innovative, efficient, and effective solutions. In support of this commitment, we are announcing the availability of DoD Cloud Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for AWS – a baseline that uses a collection of templates to enable defense mission owners to quickly build out secure, scalable cloud environments. DoD Cloud IaC for AWS is designed to help DoD organizations accelerate cloud adoption and support the rapid delivery of capabilities to the warfighter.

Today, adoption of cloud services in the DoD requires time and resources that may not be readily available due to current mission demands and operational tempo (OPTEMPO). Infrastructure as code (IaC) is a DevOps concept that leverages automation to build out a foundational cloud environment that is ready to be customized to mission-specific requirements, significantly reducing the upfront investment that can slow the adoption of cloud capabilities. DoD Cloud IaC for AWS baseline helps further accelerate the DoD’s cloud adoption by its use of templates that are pre-configured and pre-authorized by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to provide DoD mission owners a secure, approved starting point for their cloud environments.

DoD Cloud IaC for AWS recently received a three-year Authority to Operate (ATO) with conditions from DISA’s Risk Management Executive. The ATO with conditions reduces the assessment and authorization burden for mission owners, to include the inheritance of 103 common controls and 295 control correlation identifiers (CCI) in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Services (eMASS) system.

DoD Cloud IaC for AWS also makes it simpler for mission owners to make sure the cloud environment is secure and compliant. DoD Cloud IaC for AWS creates tailored environments with embedded preventative and detective controls that comply with NIST 800-53 and the DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC SRG), and provides automated environment assessment and reporting. After deployment, mission owners can have a compliant and secure environment that can be used to deploy mission systems, build software applications, and migrate data.

Recently, the DoD Environment, Safety and Occupational Health Network and Information Exchange (DENIX) was able to accelerate their digital transformation through timely, cost-effective, and secure cloud deployment facilitated by DoD Cloud IaC for AWS.

“The DENIX program sees DoD Cloud Infrastructure as Code for AWS as a digital transformation accelerator,” said Poppy Harrover, program manager at DENIX. “By adopting the preapproved baseline, we reduce our deployment timelines, stay within budget, enhance cybersecurity, and expedite the ATO authorization process. DOD IaC helps transform DENIX into customer focused platform service that enables capabilities delivery at the speed of relevance at the least possible cost.”

Through the use of its pre-configured, pre-authorized templates, DoD Cloud IaC for AWS supports rapid delivery of innovative cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) technologies and capabilities to the warfighter.

Beyond the foundational environment deployments, DoD Cloud IaC for AWS includes a set of DISA-authorized, pre-configured offerings available through the AWS Service Catalog. These services decrease time to operational capability for a wide array of use cases and accelerate mission owners’ deployment of a tailored cloud environment.

DoD Cloud IaC for AWS also provides customers the opportunity to move up the stack and leverage higher level native AWS Managed Services, which increases the number of controls inherited from the cloud services provider.

Reston, VA – TekSynap Corporation IT Services Division announced that it has been appraised at level 5 for Services and level 3 for Development of ISACA’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) v2.0. The appraisal was performed by Process Assessment Consulting and Training.

CMMI is a proven, outcome-based performance model and the globally accepted standard for improving capability, optimizing business performance and aligning operations to business goals.

An appraisal at Maturity Level 5 indicates that the organization is performing at an “optimizing” level. At this level, the organization continually improves its processes based on a quantitative understanding of its business objectives and performance needs. The organization uses a quantitative approach to understand the variation inherent in the process and the causes of process outcomes.

TekSynap was previously appraised at CMMI Level 3 for Services and Level 3 for Development under CMMI® v1.3. The latest appraisal rating at Level 5 for Services is a rare achievement that demonstrates excellent service delivery, superior quality and continuous improvement are ingrained throughout TekSynap. NSA Approves TekSynap as a Trusted Integrator for Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC)

The National Security Agency (NSA) has approved TekSynap as a Trusted Integrator for Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC). CSfC is an important part of NSA’s commercial cybersecurity strategy to deliver secure cybersecurity solutions leveraging commercial technologies and products to deliver cybersecurity solutions quickly. It is founded on the principle that properly configured, layered solutions can provide adequate protection of classified data in a variety of different applications. NSA has developed, approved, and published solution-level specifications called Capability Packages (CPs) and, through the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), works with technical communities from across industry, government and academia to develop, maintain, and publish product-level security requirements called Protection Profiles (PPs). NSA’s CSfC Program was established to enable commercial products to be used in layered solutions protecting classified NSS data. This will provide the ability to securely communicate based on commercial standards in a solution that can be fielded in months, not years.
