The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) was created as an independent Agency by Congress in 1974 to enable the nation to safely use radioactive materials for beneficial civilian purposes while protecting people and the environment. The NRC regulates commercial nuclear power plants and other uses of nuclear materials, such as in nuclear medicine, through licensing, inspection and enforcement of its requirements. TekSynap supports the NRC Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), which manages information technology and information management resources throughout NRC. TekSynap provides a wide variety of Information Technology (IT) support services, including (1) Seat Services, (2) Network Services, (3) Data Center/Cloud Services, (4) Operational Security Services, and (5) Application Operations, Maintenance and Modernization Services. These services are provided to the NRC Headquarters located in Rockville, MD; four Regional Offices located in King of Prussia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Lisle, IL; and Arlington TX; as well as the NRC Technical Training Center located in Chattanooga, TN.
